The Norman Hackerman Award in Chemical Research was established by the Foundation to honor Norman Hackerman, who was the Scientific Advisory Board Chairman from 1982 to 2006, and to encourage and recognize young chemical scientists in Texas for their research accomplishments.

The award will be made on an annual basis, when warranted, to a scientist conducting chemical research in Texas.  A candidate for the award must be within 10 years of his or her initial appointment as an assistant professor or equivalent on June 30 for the year in which nominated and who has spent the most recent three (3) years doing chemical research in the state of Texas.

Nominations can be made by any Texas college or university and are due in the Foundation offices by September 15 of each year.  The award will be presented at a function on the campus of the awardee’s institution.  The current monetary amount of the award is $100,000.

Please refer to the guidelines for nomination procedures.
