The general policy of The Welch Foundation is to support fundamental chemical research at universities, colleges, or other educational institutions within the state of Texas.

Each research grant provides a minimum of $150,000 in funding over a three year period to support research in chemistry by a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty member who serves as principal investigator.  Applications are restricted to universities, colleges, or other educational institutions located within the state of Texas.

Each research grant may utilize its funds on stipends, fellowships, scholarships, permanent scientific equipment, expendable scientific items, services, equipment maintenance, publication expenses, and travel according to The Foundation’s guidelines.

Proposals are due in the Foundation offices by February 1 of each year.
