The Welch Foundation is pleased to welcome Kevan M. Shokat as the newest member of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and to announce current member Catherine J. Murphy has been appointed Vice Chair.
Dr. Shokat is currently an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Professor in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology at the University of California at San Francisco, and Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California at Berkeley. His research group is focused on the discovery of new small molecule tools and drug candidates targeting protein/lipid kinases, GTPases, and RNA helicases. His full bio can be accessed here.
Dr. Murphy has served on the Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board since January 1, 2019. She holds the Larry R. Faulkner Endowed Chair in Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her laboratory has pioneered the colloidal synthesis of shape-controlled gold and silver nanoparticles in aqueous solution.
